The Ramadan Spirit of Giving Continues at PAD
1000 food cards given, 140 prisoners repatriated, 2100 individuals served iftar and Eid gifts to be given At Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), the essence of Ramadan is in full spring as we carry out welfare activities during the Holy Month. Keeping up with our tradition PAD Welfare committee is running several initiatives to serve the deserving members of the community. Mr Faisal Sunka, head of PAD Welfare committee, remarked that “though our welfare efforts continue throughout the year, they are at their peak in the month of Ramadan”.

We are pleased to share that so far; we have distributed 1000+ food cards to deserving families. We have also been providing iftar at the local Pakistani Mosque in Oud Metha and have been able to serve 2100+ individuals. PAD is also organizing an Eid gift distribution ceremony for deserving families. These activities, ensure that members of our community in need are provided essential supplies and meals throughout the Holy Month and for Eid.

PAD Welfare team is also working with Dubai Police and Pakistan Consulate to repatriate prisoners and allow them to reunite with their families. So far,140 prisoners have been repatriated. We are grateful to Dubai Police and Pakistan Consulate for their support.

Mr Faisal Sunka, Secretary PAD Welfare, remarked that our welfare efforts extend beyond the month of Ramadan as our team proactively works all year round to support our people in every way possible. Our incredible network of volunteers helps us extend welfare services in special areas such as education and legal advice. These services help us with our efforts in making education and legal support accessible to the segment of our community who can’t afford these otherwise. PAD Welfare team selects the deserving cases through a robust screening process.

Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) is providing medical care of the highest standards to the deserving of the community. In 2022, approximately 50% of patients at PMC were served for free as part of our medical welfare services. In order to raise funds for the project we recently concluded a successful online art auction last weekend which sold over 45 artworks to raise proceeds for PMC. The Online Art Auction is organized every year in collaboration with Poetic Strokes.

PAD is able to serve the deserving through ever-growing support of our community who contribute to our cause in huge numbers. Our gratitude goes out to all who have supported our endeavours in the past and continue doing so with full empathy and fervour. As public service remains a priority, our growing welfare activities always need your support to ensure the long-term sustainability and in achieving our goal of promoting social welfare and inclusivity.

Along with our donors and supporters, PAD also remains thankful to the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and the Community Development Authority (CDA) for constantly facilitating our mission. In a bid to expand our reach and cater to more deserving groups, we are hopeful of widespread and continuous community support to sustain our goal of promoting social welfare and inclusivity.

Marking an Early Eid with Deserving Families
On Saturday, April 15th, Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) organised an Eid Gift Distribution event to hand out presents to deserving families ahead of Eid-Al-Fitr this year. Following the success of last year’s activity, little dreams and wishes were fulfilled this weekend at the Pakistan Auditorium as hundreds of children were offered clothes, toys, shoes and educational materials to take home as early Eid gifts. Mr Faisal Sunka, Head of Welfare, said, “Last year, we had an incredible response at the very first Eid Gift Distribution organised by PAD, so we decided to spread the festive joy once again this year.”

Special gift bags filled with items donated by generous community members were packed according to family requirements. The event was also designed in a way to provide children with a wholesome Eid shopping experience as different kinds of items were placed at the many stalls in the auditorium. Families from across the Emirates gathered at PAD to spread the joy of an early Eid for their kids as the presents were carefully picked for children of all age groups. Traditional Pakistani wear for women and girls were also among the variety of gifts.

“We are grateful to the authorities and our community for supporting this initiative. Our goal remains to ensure that deserving families are also a part of our joy and celebrations – the essence of PAD truly lies in inclusivity and compassion,” said Mr Faisal Sunka.

Marking true community spirit, our kind volunteers dedicated their time to sort and pack the gift bags while also decorating the auditorium to welcome the families. The activity was also supported by the PAD Ladies Forum who joined in to provide gifts and spread the essence of giving and togetherness this Ramadan.

The PAD Welfare team selects deserving cases through a robust screening process to ensure we are able to cater to as many individuals as possible. As part of our annual Ramadan Welfare Campaign, we are pleased to share that we have so far distributed food packages to 1100+ deserving families and aim to achieve our target of serving 2000 families. We have also been providing iftar meals at the local Pakistani Mosque in Oud Metha. With the support of Dubai Police and Pakistan Consulate, we have repatriated 140 prisoners. Our campaign began earlier this Ramadan with the phenomenal success of our Online Art Auction 2023 – organised each year in collaboration with Poetic Strokes – which saw over 45 artworks sold to raise donations for the free healthcare of patients in need at Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC). In 2022, approximately 50% of patients at PMC were offered free treatment as part of our medical welfare services.

We remain thankful to Dar Al Ber Society, Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and the Community Development Authority (CDA) for constantly facilitating our activities and initiatives.
