Pakistan Youth Forum (PYF-PAD), youth club of Pakistan Association Dubai, organized a one-of-its-kind Education and Career Fair on Saturday, 29th April at the Pakistan Auditorium, Dubai.
The Fair, divided into three areas – university booths, mentor booths and activity corner, targeted high school students from grade 9 onward on higher education and career opportunities in the country. The event also saw more than 200 community members and public taking the opportunity to connect with universities and young people of the working class.
Major universities which participated at the event were American University of Sharjah, Heriot-Watt University Dubai, SZABIST Dubai, COTHM Dubai, Modul University and Skyline University College. Mentor booths consisted of young people of the community from different career paths – architecture and design, engineering, business, entrepreneurship, medicine and dentistry, accounting and finance, media and pure sciences – come together to give hands on tips and advice for students to explore more options and choose subjects and careers that resonated to them.
In addition to higher education and career advice, the fair included several fun activities including photography, sketching, calligraphy and personality and aptitude tests to help them develop passion and hobbies which are as integral as choosing a career path.
“This education and career fair for younger kids is the first of its kind in the Pakistani community. Our aim was to raise awareness of opportunities outside of engineering and medicine and diversify Pakistani talent in the country. We are extremely happy with the turnout and hope to host a career fair each year.” highlighted Dr Moin, Education Secretary PYF-PAD.
