Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) is a volunteer, non-profit, social welfare and cultural organization of the expatriate Pakistanis, serving since 1963. The Pakistani diaspora in the U.A.E is the second largest overseas community and one of the oldest expatriate groups in the country.
It is the sole representative body of approx. 1.4 million Pakistanis, residing in U.A.E. and is registered with the Community Development Authority, Government of Dubai.
Currently there are 12 wings of the Association that work in diverse sectors and represent the Pakistani community positively in each of their respective professions.
The dream of having a designated place for the community was born in 1961 in a small garage where community members came together just for small talk. Then in 1963 a small office was rented near Makoli Hospital which was like a hub for community members to gather and connect.
Initially the name Pakistan Association Dubai was never used, it was called ‘Pakistan Sports Club’. The idea was to have a spot where people from all ethnicities amass and call it a ‘mini – Pakistan’. A ‘mini – Pakistan’ miles away from Pakistan, a place where they can express their patriotism, share their joys and sorrows and find all kinds of help and relief from amongst community members.
PAD has since its early years played an integral role in sorting out problems for its countrymen i.e. Financially, be it in the education sector, health sector, and repatriation of prisoners as well as helping people with issuing of passports and etc.
The association has a history of serving its people in every possible way and takes pride in doing so.
It’s landmark community project “Pakistan Center” was launched on August 14 last year, a first ever not-for-profit health care facility to be built by expatriates at their community center anywhere in the GCC.
The Pakistan Center consists of the Pakistan Medical Center, Health and Fitness Center, Theme Restaurant, Ladies and Gents Mosque, Administrative Offices, Seminar Rooms, BBQ area and Children play area.
The centre will be housed in a two-storey building which will cost Dh12 million. PAD offers community members 12,000 bricks to own with a price tag of Dh1,000 for each brick in a bid to raise Dh12 million for the construction of the building, which will be completed in 18-20 months Insha Allah.
