PAD Gears Up For Pakistan Resolution Day 2023!

PAD orchestrates the best of Pakistani culture and cuisine to celebrate Pakistan Day
On March 18th-19th 2023, Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) organised a festive weekend in honour of its annual Pakistan Day celebrations. The Pakistan Festival was an opportunity to bring our community together to share the love of our culture and our world-renowned street food, as a testament to the ever-famous Pakistani hospitality. With around 3000 people in attendance from across the seven emirates, the event included an array of cultural stalls, art workshops, performances, games, rewards and more to represent the rich image of Pakistan.

Day 1 of the festival kickstarted with a special performance by the Dubai Police band who orchestrated an instrumental of the UAE and Pakistan national anthems. The atmosphere outside buzzed with patriotism as families sang along to national tunes and took a tour of painting stalls, children’s workshops, and cultural stalls displaying traditional clothes and crafts. A vibrant food street took the centre stage with authentic Pakistani delicacies – creating the perfect setting for families and friends to bond over mutual love for their homeland. Cheers and roars of the crowd engulfed our complex as people watched the Pakistan Super League final on our big outdoor screen.

Inside the Pakistan Auditorium, the audience swayed their flags to incredible performances and tableaus by schoolchildren. Poet, orator and artist, Iftikhar Iffi took everyone in a flashback to the 1940s, describing the momentous event of Pakistan’s Resolution in Lahore. His impactful words were a great lesson especially for young children eager to learn about the history of our country. President PAD, Dr Faisel Ikram welcomed the community to the special celebrations and reiterated some key values. He said, “As taught by our Quaid, we ought to remember the importance of unity, faith and discipline beyond just one day – it should be our guide every day. The anniversary of the Pakistan Resolution serves as a reminder for us to implement the very essence of our country’s foundation into everything we do.” Pakistani comedian duo Barkat and Uzmi had the audience thoroughly amused as they brought an entertaining comedy night on both days of the festival.
The Consul General of Pakistan, H.E. Hassan Afzaal Khan was our Chief Guest for the event. In an address to the audience, he spoke about the importance of understanding the Lahore Resolution. “The 1940 resolution was a historically significant moment in the making of our country which was created on the basis of freedom and tolerance for all. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Overseas Pakistanis community in the UAE for contributing to Pakistan’s economy through remittances. Your efforts in representing the best image of Pakistan are truly unvaluable,” said the Consul General.

Day 2 came alive with the revving of extravagant bikes as fifty bikers from the Pakistani Riders Group (PRG) joined the Pakistan Festival. Followed by the Bikers Rally, dholwalas (traditional drummers) brought more life to the festivities as families enjoyed the cultural spectacle. Poet Tajammul Sagar Butt’s powerful poetry to honour the ideology of Pakistan was a treat for the audience. The Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also graced the event with his presence and emphasised representing our country with pride. “I urge you to invite non-Pakistanis to visit our country and explore the rich history and culture we have to offer. This global representation will be instrumental in developing a positive image of Pakistan,” he said.

The event was also a platform for small businesses to showcase their products as people purchased traditional wear and ornaments. Outdoors, a bouncy castle kept children entertained while rewards, prizes and free ice cream were distributed to many through raffle draws. An exciting sports hall of fame also decorated our complex to pay tribute to Pakistan’s sporting heroes

Special thanks to all our partners for making the event a spectacular success.
