Sohni Dharti Night

As part of the celebrations of Pakistan’s Independence Day, hundreds of Pakistani families residing in different parts of the UAE took part in events held in Dubai.
The Pakistan Association Dubai held a colourful evening for families and its members on Friday night. Over 700 people from all walks of life attended the event titled ‘Sohni Dharti’.
The evening included games, magic shows, national songs and various other activities.
Marking Pakistan’s seventieth celebrations, Dr Faisel Ikram, General Secretary of PAD, said, “We should not only celebrate the occasion of Aug.14 but also understand the ideology of Pakistan. Our generations should be aware of how much our elders had sacrificed in getting us our homeland.”

A raffle draw took place amongst which ten safari and Umrah packages were given away as prizes. Ten family dinners and ten watches, and 3 gift hampers from the National Bank of Pakistan were also distributed.
The four-hour-long event was also graced by Noman Shah, a well-known singer from Pakistan who sang patriotic songs and recited nasheeds.
In the memory of legendary Junaid Jamshed, Dil Dil Pakistan, a song which is considered the unofficial anthem of Pakistan, was sung with children joining in the chorus.
The entire arena of Pakistan Association Dubai was painted white and green.
