Over 200 Pakistani students attend ‘Science Fair’

More than 200 students from all Pakistani schools in the UAE have attended and participated in a day-long Science Fair held at Pakistan Association Dubai.



The first position in ‘senior section’ was won by students from English Language School Dubai while the Pristine Private School Dubai, Islamia English School Abu Dhabi and The City School Dubai were awarded second, third and fourth positions respectively.



The ‘junior section’ result showed that the students from Community Welfare School Abu Dhabi won the first position, second runnerup was Umer Bin Khattab School Ajman while the third runnerup was Pakistan Islamia Higher School Fujairah and in fourth position was Pakistan Education Academy Dubai.







The fair was organised by the Education Committee of the association to promote the creative side of the community schools who through the support of their mentors showcased around 30 projects based on space, electricity, ecology/population, energy, motion and Stem.



Stamina Nasir, head of the education committee told the Gulf Today that the participation of the students was based on two groups, seniors and juniors, to hone the talent among the students and promote the skills and creativity to assign various projects.



“The aim of the science fair with the participation of students from 14 schools around UAE was to help them explore the universe through their projects besides celebrating the ‘Year of the Tolerance’ to bring all community schools in a platform,” she said.



Hazrat Kaab, a student of grade 8 at Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School Fujairah, displayed the firstever hydro project to produce electricity and achieve minimum waste.



“We have been given 3 days time to complete the project as the support from our physics teachers was enormous from the initial step to finalising our hydro project. We are hopeful to win in our category,” he said.



Jawad and Rayn, students of grade 6 presented their “service robot” project. “Today I have been showcasing my project third time in any inter-school competition while pairing with my colleague Jawad; we are for the first time presenting our robotic project. The robot we designed can be used in any difficult situation like accidents or natural calamities to save precious lives,” said Rayan.
