Students across United Arab Emirates gathered at Pakistan Association Dubai on Saturday to express their love and gratitude for the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. They were part of a poster and speech competition which highlighted the vision, values, leadership qualities and achievements of the founding father of UAE.
Fourteen Pakistani and one international school participated in the event in respect to the centennial celebrations of Year of Zayed.
The students were given topics on which they had to select and prepare. The posters had a theme of highlighting the life of Sheikh Zayed from 1918 to the achievements of UAE till 2020 in respect to his vision. Each school prepared a mural having quotes of the great leader as well as the development of the country.
Pakistan’s Counsel General to the UAE H.E. Syed Javed Hassan was the chief guest along with Dr Omar Al Muthanna CEO Community Development Authority.
Addressing the audience Al Muthanna said “Sheikh Zayed was a charismatic and visionary leader who lived for his people. His legacy lives in every corner of the United Arab Emirates. In every sphere of life from reviving hope to quality education to the country’s progress, Sheikh Zayed has provided the foresight to the prosperity of United Arab Emirates”.
He further added “The prosperity and success of a nation is measured by its standard of education. I appreciate each child for their efforts in celebrating the Year of Zayed and the Pakistan Association Dubai for providing the platform for the students to showcase their abilities”.
Hasan appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers. He also paid homage to the founder father of the UAE and said that he was a genuine leader who believed in the upliftment of its own people.
“The main focus of this event was to educate the youth of the enlightened leadership of the world’s most inspirational leader. The Pakistani youth especially should learn from the legacy of Sheikh Zayed and follow his footprints” said Mrs Samina Nasir who heads the education committee at PAD. The education team has held multiple events to motivate the Pakistani students as well as the teachers and bring them at par with the rest of the world.
In poster competition Pakistan Islamia Higher School Sharjah took the first position while Pakistan Higher Secondary School Fujairah and Islamia English School Abu Dhabi grabbed second and third position respectively. In the speech competition Khalid Reda from Islamia English School Abu Dhabi won the first position and Zulkifeel Sharif from Pakistan Islamia Higher secondary School Fujairah was the runner up while two students Amal Sher Azim Khan from Pakistan Islamia Higher School Sharjah and Ameon Naseem from H. H Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Pakistani School Dubai got third positions respectively.
