Pakistan Association Dubai Helps Amnesty Seekers

Pakistani missions in the UAE, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General in Dubai, have received a number of expatriates seeking information related to the ongoing 3-month amnesty scheme.

To facilitate the community, the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has also set up special arrangements with its legal team to assist the overstaying community members in Dubai and Northern emirates.

The legal team comprises PAD officials who will be available twice a week – Saturdays and Tuesdays, from 6pm to 9pm – in the association to provide the consultation related to the UAE amnesty scheme.

Shahid-ul-Islam, a member of the PAD Welfare Committee, told that the step to provide legal assistance to amnesty seekers is one of the welfare initiatives from the association towards the community. “In a relief for expats whose visas have expired and overstaying in the UAE, the 3-month amnesty scheme is a ‘golden chance’ for such people. The PAD legal team will be available at its premises in Oud Metha every Saturday and Tuesday to provide all types of assistance,” he said.

He pointed that the legal team is already providing assistance to needy community members in its office weekly and for the next three months, the team will also support those who are seeking amnesty under the UAE government. “The welfare committee of PAD has been active in supporting deserving community members throughout the year with the contribution of philanthropists in the expat community. As recently in Ramadan, the PAD provided air tickets to 75 inmates and helped in paying their fines to go back to their families. For deserving amnesty seekers, the PAD will support through its regular welfare funds to provide air tickets, etc,” he said.

The PAD welfare team is already meeting consulate and immigration officials to devise a mechanism for amnesty seekers, especially those who need legal and other support.

“We are monitoring the situation and will extend our help to all those who deserve,” he added.
The PAD has already spread the message with all the relevant information including benefits, process, fees and others to its members and highlighted the importance of the amnesty scheme started by the UAE government for three months.
