H.E. Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan joins Pakistanis for Independence Day Celebrations

On the occasion of Pakistan’s 71st Independence Day celebrations, the U.A.E’s Minister of Tolerance H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan joined the community at Pakistan Association Dubai.

The evening was hosted by the Ambassador of Pakistan Moazzam Ahmed Khan and President PAD Dr Faisel Ikram.
Over 500 Pakistanis from all walks of life stood in a line to renew their hopes for a better and brighter Pakistan. A number of foreign diplomats and senior dignitaries’ from the local authorities attended the colorful event.

The highlight of the evening was H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan’s launch of the ‘Junior Brick’ along with schoolchildren for the pediatric services of the Pakistan Medical Centre.

Junior Brick is an extension of own a brick campaign, which includes children from all nationalities across numerous schools in Dubai. A total of 15,000 bricks will be owned and the contribution would go towards the pediatric services of the upcoming not for profit Pakistan Medical Centre. A Junior Wall (J WALL) in the medical centre would recognize their contribution.

Each junior brick owner will be given a two years junior membership of PAD giving each child a sense of ownership of the association.

Shaikh Nahyan lauded the founding fathers of Pakistan and new leaders who have been peacefully elected to continue promoting stability and the rule of law in Pakistan to kindle hope for the future.
“As the world’s sixth most populous country, occupying one of the most strategically important locations on earth, Pakistan is an influential global leader,” Shaikh Nahyan said.

Shaikh Nahyan also thanked the 1.4 million Pakistani expatriates for their contributions to the UAE.
“One has only to know all of you who are sitting in this auditorium tonight to understand the enormous potential of Pakistan. You have impressed the global population of the UAE with your skills, your competence, your internal spirit, your civic responsibility, your allegiance to sound moral values and your ability to succeed in a global economy,” he said.

“You have shared in and contributed to the prosperity and well-being that marks the UAE. Our country is grateful to you and your Pakistani predecessors. Our country is proud to count the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a great friend.”

“Our friendship is here to stay,” Shaikh Nahyan said.

“Today, we not only pay tribute to our founding fathers but also recognise our friends and benefactors who have always been a source of strength and support. I count the UAE foremost on that,” said Ambassador Moazzem Ahmed Khan.

The recipients of the Pakistan Day Awards are Shahab Haider of The Citizen Foundation; Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief of Gulf News; Col Khalid Al Suwaidi, in-charge of Al Wathba Jail in Abu Dhabi; Sohail Abdul Latif Galadari of Khaleej Times; Dr Nighat Aftab of the Medical Wing of PAD; Ammar Ashfaq, a Taekwondo player who represented Pakistan in various international competitions; and Dr Omar Al Muthanna from CDA, among others.

“The Independence Day celebrations are always special and this one makes me more proud to see the younger generation participate in community service through the junior brick campaign. This will be a start to a new relationship of giving and social cohesion between Pakistan and UAE” said Dr Faisel Ikram, President PAD.
The not-for-profit Pakistan Medical Centre partnered with Dar Al Ber Society on the occasion to be its charity partner.
