Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) Sports Committee organized Year of Zayed PAD Super-6 Cricket Tournament at the premises of Pakistan Association Dubai. This is the fourth edition of PAD Super-6 Cricket Tournament. Every new edition of the PAD Super-6 Cricket Tournament is more popular among the Pakistani community than previous one, 1st edition of the event was featuring 6 teams while the current edition was contested between 12 teams. The event was sponsored by HBL, Transfast, Al-Marai and A1-Engineering.
Saqlain Mushtaq (Former Test Cricketer of Pakistan) was the Chief Guest of the event, during his address Mr. Saqlain Mushtaq said “youngsters should take part in sports activities to showcase their real talent”. He said that this kind of healthy activities will help to showcase positive image of Pakistan in front of world. He also highlights the importance of Sportsman spirit and said all players shall respect each other and shall develop good relationship with each other utilizing this event.
Acting General Secretary of PAD, Mr. Sohail Ashraf spoke on the occasion and congratulated PAD Sports Committee for organization such a successful and organized event. He further added that PAD sports committee shall organize such events more regularly for the community because this kind of events are helpful to bring the community closer to their 2nd home in UAE and also helpful to create soft image of Pakistani community within UAE.
During his address Cultural Director of PAD, Mr. Tariq Rehman said that UAE government announced 2018 as Year of Zayed. H.H Sheikh Zayed played an important role for providing all kind of facilities and freedom to the Pakistanis in UAE, also H.H Sheikh Zayed helped Pakistani nation with education and health facilities in Pakistan. In this regard Pakistan Association Dubai dedicated all its activities to the H.H Sheikh Zayed and it is our duty as Community to participate in these activities to celebrate Year of Zayed with zeal and enthusiasm.
There were twelve teams in the tournament from different corporate sectors and clubs, the teams were divided into four groups. Final match was played between Ghaurians Cricket Club and IC Warriors; Ghaurians Cricket Club won the Title. Captain of Ghaurians Mr. Shahid Gul said that I am very happy and proud of my team we were the runner-up of last two editions, finally we won the title of Champions this time.
Sports Director, Mr. Zahid Hassan appreciated the sportsman spirit and patience showed by all teams and appreciates tireless efforts of volunteers and PAD social media team. On behalf of Pakistan Association Dubai, Mr. Zahid Hassan conveyed special thanks to the event sponsors without their support tournament wouldn’t be a success story.
The prizes were distributed by Mr. Sohail Ashraf, Acting General Secretary, Mr. Tariq Rehman – Cultural Director and Mr. Zahid Hassan- Sports Director of PAD among the Winner and runner up teams.
